So since in my advice collumn I was asked by Sam for some tips around studying, I thought I’d also write something on how to make a study group, since that is something I’ve done before with some friends.
Step one, pick a subject or two! What do you need help with? I suggest Maths, it’s one of the easiest to study with a group, but you can also study Literacy, Spelling, or Science. You can also study Health / Navigating the Journey, but I could never do that with my friends/classmates. You can also just say you’ll do homework together.
Step two, find some students or some friends willing to study with you! Make sure if you’re choosing one or two subjects, you have one person who’s good at it to study with your group. If your doing just homework, then find some fun but not ultra-distracting people.
Step three, orginise a day per week, or a couple days per week to meet up in a place of your choosing. School librarys and spare classrooms work well, but you can also meet at eachothers houses if that’s something you’d be comfortable with. Make sure you keep to the schedual as much as you can, because studygroups often fall apart because someone skips too often.
Step four (Optional), make sure you have one or two people taking class notes per subject you choose, so that as a group you can go over them together. This is optional because it can be a lot of work taking note of everything your teacher says, but it can help with remembering your subject information.
I hope you find these steps useful, and that you keep checking in with my blog!
